Project Overview
Our goal was to direct producers to
resources that increase their capacity to navigate financial stress,
including workshops, videos, webinars, and podcasts which
allowed them to learn in a private setting. Specifically, we:
1. Offered workshops to teach producers
how to use software for keeping farm financial records, a) at a conference for women in agriculture and b) a
training in conjunction with an Extension workshop.
2. Added five modules to the FSA borrower
training curriculum expanding on marketing materials as well as new resources
on bench-marking, contracts, and financial stress testing.
3. Made newly
developed materials publicly available through a mobile-friendly website
and other electronic means including YouTube videos, podcasts, and publication
links to improve knowledge of and access to information and tools. This
complemented our social media presence (approximately 1404 OSU Farm
Management Facebook and 2,151 OK Women in Ag Facebook followers) and enhanced
delivery of risk management education focused on finance, marketing, and crop
insurance/ policy.
4. Marketed these new resources through expanded efforts to
reach under-served audiences and veterans, through ongoing educational programs
such as our annual rural economic outlook conference, Annie's Project and Master Cattleman programs, and through quarterly newsletters and
connections with agricultural lenders.
