Human capital or labor comes with unique risks in agricultural production. This project provided practical, targeted human resources risk management education and strategies to limited resources producers, sustainable producers and traditional commercial producers in Eastern and Western Washington. Eight Agricultural Human Resources Bootcamps were presented - four Agricultural Human Resources Bootcamp 1 and four Agricultural Human Resources Bootcamp 2. Six Bootcamps were held in English and two were held in Spanish.
Ag HR Bootcamp 1 focused on recruitment, selection and legal Issues of a workforce. Ag HR Bootcamp 2 then covered unique scenarios for managing an agricultural workforce, motivating, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Bootcamps were taught by agricultural communications experts, legal and risk experts - all having deep roots in agriculture. Curriculum was presented with multi-media aids; participants received language-specific curriculum handbooks. Bootcamps were designed to be current, practical and immersive with scenarios and role playing as learning aids. Pre and post-Bootcamp surveys were provided to inform future education efforts. Two Ag HR Risk Management: Best Practices & Emerging Issues webinars were posted on the WFB website addressing best practices and emerging concerns in Ag HR.
WFB was able to reach 264 unique participants with this project.
