Project Overview

This project had some disappointments and some unexpected successes. I was unable to conduct as many workshops as proposed since enrollments were too low to justify travel to more distant sites. Those who did register were invited to another site and did participate. I received an invitation to present to an audience I had not anticipated, but it was an active, participating audience.

The major unexpected success was connecting to one farm operation with multiple sites and over 400 employees. Training that set of managers impacted a lot of people.

Another success is working with the Upper Midwest Agriculture Safety and Health (UMASH) consortium. As a result of our connection they are embarking on a program for dairy farms on low stress livestock handling with the focus being on safety for workers as well as less stress on the livestock. We have a pilot program scheduled for January 2014.
