Project Overview

This proposal addressed developing a marketing risk educational program for value added and direct sales farm operations in Northern Indiana and a regional marketing brochure to increase sales and profitability in participating counties. Part 1 was the development of a 1 day program, Making Marketing Easy, and a 5 week series on Growing for Market to introduce risk, marketing skills and developing mission statements. 186 participants participated in these programs with 76 reporting learning at least one new direct marketing skill immediately following the programs. Part 2 was the creation of the Escapet to the Land: Farms, Markets,& Gardens brochure and web link for Northern Indiana. Ten months after distribution of the brochure, an evaluation showed 20% of the farms had an increase in sales, farm visits, calls or emails as a result of the brochure.
