Project Overview

The objective of the project was to promote the sustainability of Wyoming woolgrowers through use of a comprehensive production strategy and risk assessment program. Producers received training on goal setting, insurance options, risk management strategies and financial enterprise analysis. Producers also received information on marketing and innovative herd management strategies. To reinforce the tools taught participants practiced risk assessment and partial budgeting at the end of each production strategy session. The project was accomplished through five, 4-hour, workshop sessions at two Wyoming locations. A total of 18 participants completed the program with at least 15 participants at each session. Additionally 3 sessions were presented at the 2012 Tri-State Wool Growers Meeting. Over 50 participants from Idaho, Utah and Wyoming were taught in these three sessions.
