Project Overview

In the next decade, Texas will experience the largest intergenerational land transfer in the state's history. To educate and assist farming operators and landowners, a guide was created to assist in the initial steps of planning for the future. This guide along with a workshop by Tiffany Lashmet who is an outstanding speaker gave attendees a wealth of information.

Five free workshops across the state of Texas were held to educate underserved and traditional farmers.  COVID concerns were a hurdle that diminished attendance. In an attempt to reach more people, the Texas Corn Producers' newsletter will run a series of articles discussing the estate/succession planning workshop topics and completing the developed guide.  Also, a recorded presentation will be available for viewing on the website, www.texascorn.org. As well, the guide will be available for printing on the Texas Corn website. This will be beneficial for future education and use by others.

Testimonies from the attendees as well as the survey results showed a very positive response on the information provided.  We found that many people do not want to discuss the subject. We hope this opened the door to start those important talks.
