Project Overview

This project targeted value-added agriculture producers and producers diversifying their operations. Farmers who have an interest in meat goat marketing were able to attend one of two workshops held in Ames, Iowa, and Lexington, Illinois, and have access to a tool kit of marketing information posted on the Web at www.agmrc.org. Producers learned about the market potential in their area for ethnic goat products; nutrition and health of meat goats; meat goat inspections, labeling and processing and real-life experiences from actual producers. At the end of the project, 117 producers attended these two workshops and more than 2700 page hits and downloads to the meat goat information were recorded at www.agmrc.org.
