Annie’s Project: Managing for Today and Tomorrow is the next phase in Annie’s Project education. Regionally over 400 women have participated in Annie’s Project. The next level focused on the decisions made during succession, business, estate and retirement planning and combined to form a transition plan ensuring that a farm continues as a productive agriculture business.
Farm women are generating a cultural tide in American agriculture that is moving management, assets and opportunities to a new wave of farms across the country. Annie’s Project: Managing for Today and Tomorrow focused on the management process and decisions needed to make successful transitions. It included hands-on activities, interaction with local professionals and up to date resources. Participants of all ages and experience levels practiced tasks to increase confidence and define a farm legacy.
The project reached 64 women. Through pre and post test analysis the percent increase in knowledge includes: choosing legal options for substitute decision making (50.57%), The purpose and limitations of estate plans (47.34%), How to access succession planning tools and resources (40.10%).
Highest ranking intentions following the class include set up or update farm estate plan, redefine my will and start looking into trusts.
