Project Overview
This project addressed the Native American (NA) agricultural
producers in the West facing financial risk and seeking to modify their
operations to improve profit. Programming was culturally appropriate
and incorporate unique jurisdictional issues that cause increased regulatory
risk for NA. Rather than focusing adoption of a single production
practice, this project improved risk analysis and decision-making skills to
enable ongoing changes creating long-term economic viability for their
operation. The project enabled producers to thoughtfully consider any
changes to their operation both positive and negative. Producers gained a
skill set to conduct a thorough analysis of their existing situation, map out
alternatives and develop a course of action best suited for their
situation.
Programming included 1) local workshops, 2) presentations at
conferences, 3) focused webinar and tool on Coronavirus Farm Assistance Program
for Tribal Producers and 3) an online webinar series “Financial Health For
Tribal Producers”.
