Project Overview
The project sought to address human risk of farm businesses and the ability to keep all people
involved in the business safe, satisfied and productive, through improved employee management
and communication. The project completed the update and implementation of the existing UW
Madison Division of Extension Becoming the Employer of Choice (BTEC) program; developed
and implemented with support of NCERME (2016). This included the development of two new
modules and the transition of the program platform to an online learning management system
that utilized multiple delivery methods to reach a wider range of producers that vary
in terms of learning preferences, availability, access, or other factors. New modules
introduced topics of a systems approach to human resources and positive workplace culture. Educators and
supported participants’ participation in the BTEC program and guided asynchronous course modules.
The transition to an online system will allowed for multiple program offerings by Extension in WI,
MN and MI that utilize one curriculum.
