Project Overview

Central Community College (CCC) proposes to develop and implement a series of five 2-day Commodity Marketing Risk Management workshops for agricultural producers in the college 25-county service area. The project team of presenters and expert collaborators from farm service agencies will utilize technology, interactive discussion and one-on-one consultation to provide participants with an increased understanding of commodity market behavior and market risk management tools to further improve their successful agribusiness management; basic knowledge of commodity marketing terms and phrases; information regarding risks and returns associated with price, production and revenue risk management products; a completed/applicable commodity marketing plan including an evaluation plan to assess the tools and strategies learned in the workshop. It is anticipated that the inclusion of an individual commodity marketing plan within the workshop curriculum will improve producers ability to manage risks associated with farming and ranching businesses.
