Project Overview
Farm women crave information related to finances, marketing, and quality of life. This has been validated by the evaluations of the Overall Women Conference, a quality two-day conference for rural women held in eastern Iowa. Begun in 2005, it is a conference for rural women, planned by rural women. The variety and depth of topics come from the experiences of the planning group. The conference meets a need for rural women wanting to improve farm business skills and learn more about risk management strategies, along with other human resource risks. Beyond the conference, Overall Women is creating networking opportunities to share expertise and experiences. Women in the planning group gain leadership and communication skills as they build partnerships with agri-business, agriculture organizations, and community partners. Their goal is to continue the conference annually bringing in the best risk management educators, while keeping registration fees reasonable.
