Project Overview
The first year of this WCRME funded project focused primarily on updating and implementation of the Understanding Dairy Markets website. (http//future.aae.wisc.edu) The adoption of SQL databases allowed expanded data and publications. Historical and current values of key price, production, trade, and other data related to U.S. and international dairy markets were identified to complement existing data series.
The major components of the website consists of (i) current and historical data, (ii) over 270 searchable dairy-related publications, (iii) software decision aids, (iv) several tutorials devoted to dairy price risk management, (v) the graphical analysis tools, (vi) links to on-line resources on milk and milk-based products marketing and (vii) the latest dairy related news.
The average number of visitors per month was more than 5,700. Each user averaged more than 0.5 MB worth of information per month. Approximately 3.4 GB/month of information was downloaded from the website over the Sept. 2007-April 2008 period.
Number of Participants: 62000
