Project Overview
Women are a critical part of farming success and are involved in farm management decisions related to farm finances, alternative enterprises, off-farm work, and family health, safety, and teamwork. The eighth annual Women in Blue Jeans Conference, January 2010, will provide a learning environment comfortable to women and provide diverse topics to attract 200 women of multiple generations and agricultural experiences. Leadership for the conference is provided by Women in Blue Jeans, Inc, using a steering committee of 10-20 volunteers. Educational topics that impact women involved in agriculture to be presented will include: business planning skills, financial management, financial diversification, marketing, crop insurance, health and wellness, and managing the farm family and household. The Women in Blue Jeans conference will improve the farm management and business skills of 150 women, and result in the measurable improvement of business management for 90 agricultural businesses by December 31, 2010.
