The intent of this project was to address risk as it pertained to legislative ag. policy and probability assessment of producers. However, during the course of the project, the aim shifted to risk assessment, strategy, and management as it pertained to agricultural lenders, appraisers, and farm financial professionals. Especially important was lender exposure for lenders with respect to land and secured vs. unsecured debt.
The program consisted of several lectures to boards of directors of Regions Bank, two Ag. Lender Conferences, and several smaller presentations to extension professionals and lenders on how asset values may change leading to unsecured debt, which in turn, would tighten credit during periods of poor agricultural financial performance. Presentations and workshops were also given for producers on the policies with respect to lending, and producer credit worthiness illustrating a need for a good lender/producer relationship. The primary delivery vehicle was face to face training.
