Project Overview

The Whole Ranch Planning Series is a learning program that integrates Holistic Management principles with grass-fed marketing and production options. Led by Kirk Gadzia, internationally recognized holistic management consultant and educator, this Colorado-based program provided livestock producers with resources, tools and information needed to implement a Whole Systems approach to business and financial planning for their operations.

Four sessions (8 days) took place over 10 months, involving "field days" at three different ranches in Colorado (Alamosa, Colorado Springs and Durango), plus a marketing symposium in Denver. Participants were guided through a process of planning and assessment that provided them with a solid evaluation and decision-making framework for making informed decisions and implementing specific actions to minimize risk.

Topics included holistic planning principles, grazing/drought planning, direct/wholesale grass-fed marketing and production options, financial planning, land restoration and developing additional farm/ranch-derived income. Individual follow-up, mentorship and facilitated group discussions provided focus and support to achieve results.
