Project Overview
Changes in our national economy impact all industries in Northwest Ohio, including general agriculture and the green industry. As a result, agricultural businesses must review and modify management strategies for increased profits, efficiencies and overall business success. Agricultural producers and farm managers expressed a need to improve their understanding of basic management and strategic planning functions. As a result, this project enabled producers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic management functions of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling in their businesses by participating in a two-day workshop. Participants improved their business skills by identifying and implementing their overall mission and business objectives and becoming more effective and efficient in utilizing resources and people to meet consumers´ needs. The workshop series provided producers the opportunity to strengthen their management skills and strategies and implement them in their businesses.
