Project Overview
Wisconsin farmers are experiencing a prolonged period of significant financial stress. This stress has contributed to farmers reevaluating their financial situation and business plans. The Farm Pulse Continuum adapted and updated the AgVentures: Building a Vision Financial Management and Analysis curriculum into a more relevant format for use in-person, stand-alone educational videos, and an on-line course. This curriculum assists farmers in identifying strengths and weaknesses of their business in order to assist them in making decisions that will improve their farm profitability. The Farm Pulse continuum began with review and creation of new farm financial business model factsheets, website articles, and short videos (more than 350 participants). This material was highlighted during a two-part webinar series (120 participants) to build awareness for the importance of utilizing farm financial and risk management information for informed decision-making. These educational pieces have been incorporated into a Canvas online course, which will includes the interactive video segments, quizzes and activities, case study examples, and application exercises for participants to utilize knowledge gained in evaluating their financial situations. The course is being piloted during fall 2022 and will be launched winter 2022. Farm Pulse continuum assists farmers in thinking strategically about their future business plans.
