Project Overview
The Rural Women In America Conference (RWA), September 17 & 18, 2004 in Bowman, ND brought women living in rural communities together to learn about unique and important Human Resource Risk topics. The geographical target was southwest North Dakota, northwest South Dakota, and southeast Montana.
This was a two part conference starting Friday evening with Jolene Brown, CSP speaking to families about the "Top Ten Stupid Things Families Do To Break-Up Their Business".
RWA on Saturday included Jolene leading a panel of women in a discussion entitled "Generations at Work or at War?" This discussion shared an insightful profile, highlighting significant influences, characteristics, and motivational needs for each farm/ranch business generation.
Jolene’s workshop session also gave women the tools to be effective communicators.
RWA also offered six workshop sessions: Women’s Health, Fad Diets, Low Stress Cattle Handling & the Importance of Colostrum, Methamphetamine in Our Communities, and Landscaping.
The conference gave 190 women and 75 families the tools to succeed in family business and to be instrumental leaders in the viability of their communities.
