From July 1, 2023, to October 31, 2023, EAEC staff has set up several outreach training on crop insurance by way of zoom and in person. Some one-on-one outreach was also provided.
The farmers in the local counties who have been farming for ten or less years were somewhat familiar with most of the agency programs. Some farmers do utilize crop insurance in row crops but not in specialty crops. Many are not aware of this program.
After the training, surveys were completed by both the existing farmers and the summer youth interns.
This is a program well needed for the beginning and non-beginning farmers in the local area.
EAEC will continue to assist them by providing the necessary crop insurance and conservation training for the underserved farmers.
EAEC will reach out to the Crop Insurance Agency for additional information on obtaining and assisting the producers with crop insurance tools assistance.
