Project Overview
Women are a critical part of farming success, as they are involved in farm management decisions related to farm finances, alternative enterprises, off farm jobs, and family health, safety, and teamwork. The sixth annual Women In Blue Jeans Conference, January 2008, will provide a learning environment comfortable to women, and diverse topics to attract 275 women of multiple generations and agricultural experiences. Leadership to complete the conference is provided by a steering committee of 15 to 25 volunteers. Educational topics that impact women involved in agriculture that will be presented include: business planning skills, farm succession, finances and diversification, marketing, crop insurance, health and wellnes, and managing the famly farm family and household. The Women In Blue Jeans Conference will improve the farm management and business skills of 200 women, and result in the measurable improvement of business management for 130 agricultural women by December 31, 2008.
