Project Overview

“Farming Together: Enhancing Your Worth as a Farm Business Partner” provided the junior generation within farm families the tools needed to effectively prepare themselves for joining a farm business.  Workshops were conducted at 6 regional sites across Indiana.  The workshops included in-person and online training components.  The in-person interactions focused on developing a 5-year plan to address legal issues, financial preparedness strategies, and titling of farm assets.  Online curriculum educated participants about personal and professional goal setting, job descriptions, developing a budget, and living within a budget.  Participants gained the tools needed to assess their worth to the farm business and develop their expectation of earnings from the farm business.  Five months after completing the workshops participants were asked to evaluate their progress in developing goals, a budget, and their 5-year plan checklist.
