Project Overview

"Direct Market Farming: A Guide to Getting Started" developed a document that provided beginning farmers in North Texas who are or plan to use direct-marketing strategies with information about legal and marketing risk management topics that are often asked about and not always easy to find answers to. Topics covered general business formations, state regulations, food safety, types of direct marketing, USDA programs, and the Texas Cottage Food Law. Through webinars, producers learned about the guide and the information within it. Producers gained knowledge, assess which information is pertinent to their operations, and will utilize the information and resources. The project also strives to build equity in access to information.
