Project Overview
The AgSafe Human Resource Skill Develop Workshop: How to
Manage to Reduce Human and Legal Risk is a 2 day, 12 hour workshop
designed to train employees in the agricultural industry with supervisory and
management roles in human resource fundamentals and best practices. The
Human Resource Workshop addressed several aspects of legal risk in agricultural employment and human risk, specifically:
*Employee management and communication
*Health, stress and well-being
*Labor supply, recruitment and retention
The Workshop was conducted in five regions across California: Fresno,
Modesto, Santa Maria, Salinas and Napa. Each class had an average of 18
participants with a total impact of 93 individuals trained on human resource
best practices in recruitment, hiring, retention, discipline and employee
separation issues. Significant attention given to
laws and regulations as well as the required management and communication
needs unique to each portion of the process. AgSafe worked in conjunction
with regional partners to target limited resource producers, specialty crop
producers and traditional commercial producers for participation in this
workshop. This segment of the agricultural industry has an increased risk of legal
ramifications from inadvertent mismanagement and has been our primary
attendee for related courses taught by AgSafe.
