Project Overview

Annie’s Project – Women Marketing Grain (AP-WMG) builds on the success of Annie’s Project. Since 2003, Annie’s Project has educated 732 Iowa farm business partners in production, financial, marketing, legal and human resource risk management. Eighty-one percent of participants indicated a desire for additional grain marketing risk management skills. The AP-WMG pilot held in Red Oak in August 2006 had about 75% of it´s participants as former Annie´s Project participants and 25% as new students.

AP-WMG has both pre and post-harvest components. Both use the proven Winning the Game curriculum in an Annie’s Project setting. The primary difference is that AP-WMG includes the services of a female grain merchandiser as a co-educator, and six hours is allocated to covering the same material that would be covered in three hours with a traditional audience. The additional time is consumed by discussion with the highly interactive learning environment of Annie’s Project.
