Project Overview

Annie’s Project will be extended throughout Northern Ohio (See Map attachment) creating a network of farm women with a better understanding of the five areas of risk associated with agriculture; production, market, financial, legal and human. A six week series of 3 hour classes will be offered in six counties targeting 22 women per county. Topics will include the following: understanding personality styles, mission and goal development, commodity marketing basics, farm financial analysis, contracts and legal liabilities, farm transfer, communication within the farm business and family, utilizing crop insurance and other risk management tools. For farm women to be successful in managerial roles, educational resources to assist them in making risk management decision affecting farm profitability and quality of life are needed in Ohio. Annie’s Project will address those needs, along with nurturing the development of mentoring relationships among farm women. Currently, there are limited opportunities for Ohio farm women in this area.
