The Whole Ranch Planning Series is a learning program that integrates Holistic Management principles with grass-fed marketing and production options.
In this project, lead instructor, Kirk Gadzia, internationally recognized holistic management consultant and educator, guided participants through a process of planning and assessment, providing them with a solid evaluation and decision-making framework for making informed decisions and implementing specific actions to minimize risk in their livestock operation and to enhance its economic viability.
Three sessions (6 days) took place over the course of 6 months, including "field days" at participating ranches/agricultural operations on the Navajo Nation. Topics included holistic planning principles, grazing and drought planning, direct/wholesale marketing and production options, financial and general business planning, land restoration and developing additional farm/ranch-derived income.
Individual follow-up, mentorship, in-class exercises, facilitated group discussions and homework assignments assisted in providing focus and support for participants to achieve the targeted results.
