Project Overview

Barley Risk Management Education Project, Phase III, offered advanced training, using various workshop (total 7) and web-based formats (total 9), in the specific areas of (1) grain market outlook; (2) grain marketing and malting barley pricing options; (3) barley and wheat crop insurance; (4) managing production costs; and (5) estate and business succession planning. We reached more than 1,460 participants in these four delivery areas. After careful review of grower preferences, we decided not to focus on improving on-farm energy efficiencies as most survey respondents indicated that this topic had already been well covered by various utilities. Our project continued to collect and disseminate current grain market outlook and analysis through a weekly and periodic Idaho grain market reports (600 plus subscribers).
