Project Overview

The UW-Cooperative Extension and the Center for Dairy Profitability (CDP) have offered Heart of the Farm – Women in Agriculture (HOF), and Annie’s Project workshops to introduce farm women to farm risk managementsince 2002. Evaluations indicate farm women are ready for more than an introduction and are requesting in-depth skill development in risk management. Using specific farm financial record-keeping and analysis software programs (AAIMS, Quickbooks, AgFA) HOF-Green Fields will empower farm women to manage their financial information and use it to make the critical decisions for the economic sustainability of their farm businesses. They will learn the importance and the contents of a balance sheet, income and cash flow statements and how these all tell the story of their farm business and how their farm’s viability connects to the viability of the community. This program will mentor farm women about their ability to control their farm’s financial future.
