Project Overview

We developed and delivered two comprehensive symposia on all aspects of selling timber crops. The first was in Deming, WA in 2015, and the second was in Auburn, WA in 2016. They addressed legal contracts; environmental regulations; liability, and marketing plans and strategy. There were presentations and panel discussions with consultants, log buyers, regulators, loggers, and experienced landowners, as well as field trips local tree farms. 173 Small forest landowners from throughout WA (and even from out of state) attended—twice what we expected. 100% of respondents learned something new, 56% are more likely to sell logs, 99% got the information they were looking for, 94% got the information they need to be successful, and 85% are more likely to use a professional consultant. 76% of respondents shared program knowledge with an average of five other producers within a year. Most attendees have harvested yet but intend to harvest soon.
