Project Overview
This project will address the needs for business planning assistance for beginning or transitioning farmers and ranchers in Northern California and will provide a succession of results oriented workshops led by professional consultants. Workshops will focus on five financial risk management topics and one production topic. Workshops will enable participants to develop business documents and management practices utilizing risk management strategies and self-assessments for developing a profitable farm/ranch operation. Participants will be provided with home support to complete workshop documents.
Workshops will enable participants to identify family goals and assess the feasibility of goals, prepare a business structure, including a financial statement and profitability evaluation. Participants will develop a Farm-Ranch Management Plan and implement at least three actions. Participants will focus on analyzing their risks related to management practices and transitioning to new production systems.
Following each workshop, home support will be scheduled to assist with document development and assess progress.
