Project Overview
Keeping up with technology in today’s information age is an overwhelming challenge for many agricultural producers. Vital management information and communication networks are found exclusively via the internet or through E-mail. As a result, many farm and green industry producers in Northwest Ohio have expressed a need for improving basic computer skills to effectively manage and access pertinent businesses information. These producers are eager to learn but unsure of where to start. This project provides producers with access to a local computer laboratory that offers a series of quarterly workshops, educational materials and personal assistance. Producers will gain a basic understanding of how to operate a computer, how to communicate and access information via the internet and E-mail, and how to use word processing and spreadsheet applications in their daily business activities. This project will annually provide an estimated 40 producers the opportunity to enter the information age.
