Project Overview

Our project objective is to provide information to Wisconsin dairy producers via a series of workshops and dedicated website in the use of Livestock Gross Margin insurance for dairy farms (LGM-Dairy). Forming the core of our project will be a set of computer-based decision tools which can be used to evaluate the applicability of LGM-Dairy for managing gross revenue risk. This software will be introduced at a series of 3 day-long workshops to be held across the state where we present (i) an introduction price, cost and production risk (ii) basic information as to the workings of LGM-Dairy, (iii) a case-study in the use of LGM-Dairy, (iv) an introduction to our decision tools and how they can be applied to each producer´s operation and (v) an overview of the LGM-Dairy section of the University of Wisconsin Understanding Dairy Markets website for obtaining current market data and accessing an operation´s data.
