Project Overview

The Sustainable Agriculture Program of Adelante Mujeres did ensure that Latino producer of specialty crops understood the risks inherent in their operations. Through sustainable agriculture and farm business courses, farm visits, phone calls, individual meetings, access to land, and access to market we provided them the tools they used to manage production, marketing and financial risks.
22 Latino producers received production risk management training through the sustainable agriculture course
9 Latino producers received financial risk management training in the Farm Business course.
We are in the process of refining the culturally specific training manual. The way we are making sure it is appropriate for the audience we are targeting, is that we are using the draft of the manual in our current classes as a way of testing it. We are asking students’ comments, suggestions and additions so that when published for the Coalition members, it will be useful and practical.
