Snow
College Farm Business Management developed and began delivering online Farm
Business Management curriculum, by adapting two of our three current Snow
College Farm Business Management courses to an online format. Course 1; Using
QuickBooks and producers’ financial data to account for all business financial
transactions, and Course 2; Provide instruction in using the QuickBooks “Class”
tracking feature for managerial/cost accounting and Excel production
spreadsheets for crop and livestock production record keeping were merged into
one online course “Farm Record Keeping”. The second online course converted from the
third course “Year-End Analysis” into a course focused on adding spreadsheet
use for tracking and recording production records, FINPACK Lite for the farm balance
sheet, with course one Farm Record Keeping to collaboratively and synchronously
complete a year-end FINAN analysis.
At
the conclusion, 22 participants reconciled all of their financial accounts and
recorded their crop and livestock production data. In the end 16 farms completed a year-end
FINAN financial analysis that included enterprise analysis. Approximately 130 educational and instructional
activities occurred.
