Project Overview

Many grain producers try to pre-harvest price the portion of their projected grain production that is covered by revenue crop insurance. Most years producers face the challenge of marketing the remaining 30 percent or more of their crop after harvest.

This project helped producers address the post harvest by developing an educational program that helped producers understand the nature of carrying charges, the use of storage, the need for an exit plan, and how to develop a post-harvest marketing plan. The project developed a market simulation game that helps participants develop a personalized post-harvest marketing plan. Participants learned how to improve the profitability of their post-harvest marketing decisions.
