Project Overview
South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service realized the importance of empowering women involved in farming and ranching. Women that are involved in agriculture are searching for more in depth information on risk management topics that affect them. Conducting a statewide Annie’s Project in South Dakota has enabled women to be more effective business partners and create sustainability in their operation. Annie’s project was a series of 6 hands-on workshops on all areas of risk management including financial, marketing, communication, production, and succession planning. Each session was 3 hours in length, targeting women involved in agriculture. Annie’s was held in 10 locations in South Dakota. Each location was open to 20 participants; however some locations exceded the 20 participants. We applied for competitive grant funds.
