Project Overview

This project educated Hawaii farmers about the benefits of the newly available farm revenue insurance (Adjusted Gross Income-Lite.) Farmers were taught how to improve recordkeeping and budgets for planning purposes related to revenue insurance, This educational program had five components:
1. Informed all Hawaii growers about the availability and major benefits of revenue insurance.
2. Educated growers in using enterprise budgets and records required to obtain revenue insurance. All materials, including PDFs, videos and an interactive on-line course, are housed on a dedicated website.
3. Provided “train-the-trainers” in-service education for appropriate Extension Agents and Specialists to enable them to effectively help with the workshops and follow-up.
4. Presented workshops providing in-depth education to growers about revenue insurance in Hawaii.
5. Performed one-on-one follow-ups in which each selected grower implemented an appropriate record-keeping system, created enterprise budgets, designed a marketing risk management strategy and completed insurance sign-up forms.
