Project Overview

This project provided producers a greater understanding of the issues involved in transferring a farm business & estate planning. The program covered issues relating to both farming and non-farming heirs, and encouraged producers to develop a transfer plan. Techniques for farm transfer and end of life issues were discussed.

Additionally we provided programming on marketing and price planning. The volatile nature of commodity prices are a stressor on many families and uncertainty about marketing is a hindrance to developing a transfer strategy.

The 29 participants attended the workshop on farm transfer & estate planning. Participants worked on exercises like setting goals for themself and the farm. They received a workbook to continue developing their marketing and farm transfer plans after the program concluded. There were 27 participants that attended the outlook for ag producers which covered commodity marketing and prices for the year.

The two programs helped reach 56 people in the region so they can begin the process of developing farm transfer plans and will increase their skills in product marketing.

Number of Participants: 56
