Project Overview
Project Summary: Sustainable producers, small farms/ranches, and retiring/transitioning producers, especially those with disabilities in Colorado participated in Extension workshops to reduce human, financial, and production risk. We had anticipated that 240 out of 360 agricultural producers would report increased knowledge, commitment to take two actions, use tools, and change behaviors related to human, financial, and production risk. This project scheduled and marketed 6 train-the-trainer trainings to educate 12 Extension Agents/other professional participant educators and three collaborators at 5 sites to provide risk management education to 360 agricultural participant producers. Due to no or low numbers of pre-registrants, we had to cancel three because it was not cost-effective to drive 7 hours each way for only 3 ranchers. Expected results were that 240 out of 360 participants would report increased knowledge of risk management risks and tools, commitment to take two actions and use management tools, and improved attitudes, behaviors, and perception of overall financial situation. At the end of the 18-month project we had 132 participants. 28/39 completed post surveys. Two out of three increased knowledge. Half used one or more tools to manage risks. 7 out of 10 improved their attitudes. Half improved their perception of their overall financial situation.
Number of Participants: 132
