Project Overview

Six peer learning groups of producers learned about opportunities to reduce risk by capitalizing on existing assets in their own communities. Participants worked together to develop strategies to reduce financial and human risk.

The Northwest Wisconsin Regional Food Network provided the leadership to recruit key participants to form the "Producer Clusters," which included: 1) Agri-tourism, 2) Ethnic Meats, 3) Healthy Meats, 4) Apples, 5) Vegetables and Fruits, and 6) Herbs and Flowers. Value-added producers personally committed to participating in a series of professionally facilitated study groups. The cluster groups developed Strategy Reports comprising: community assets, group goals, strategies, and action plans. Clusters used grant funds to access qualified professionals and outside resources as they developed their reports.
