Project Overview

Financial and Marketing Risk Integration for Nebraska Farms was a four-day educational experience aimed to assist Nebraska row crop farmers focusing  on improving financial standing through increasing revenue and/or lowering costs.  This project consisted of two phases. Nineteen producers participated in the first two days of education in Mead, NE where they assessed their risk knowledge, increased their understanding of financial benchmarking, and improved their basic marketing knowledge. The second phase and two days of education took place at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (UNL) Department of Agricultural Economics Commodity Trading room.  Here, participants gained a deeper understanding of commodity price discovery process, reviewed Nebraska Farm Business Inc.'s cost of production and gained a greater understanding of the relationship between crop insurance and marketing.
