Project Overview

The California AgLink conference was held in January and March 2007 Sacramento. This conference was a two-session conference (4 days total, a month apart) for farm and ranch families targeted to multi-generational farm and ranch families. About 100 families worked on succession plans which included business, retirement, and estate planning. Communication skills and decision making skills were taught extensively in the first session. Intergenerational relationships were improved to enhance the success of the plan. Innovative methods were presented. Follow up technical assistance was coordinated by FarmLink including subsidized referrals towards professional fees. It was modeled after a successful program offered yearly by Iowa State University. Speakers were from universities, non-profits and the private sector. Favorable evaluations were made by attendees.
