Project Overview
The 3rd Annual Rural Women in America (RWA) Conference, September 17, 2005 in Bowman, ND continued to bring a region of rural women together to improve their Human Risk Management skills and network with their peers in Rural America. The geographical target for this conference was southwestern North Dakota, northwestern South Dakota, and southeastern Montana.
This one-day conference featured two key-note speakers and multiple workshop sessions. Speaker Rebecca Long Chaney delivered a message of self-discovery highlighting the trials and tribulations of a year-long adventure overseas with her husband. Bob Upgren’s message “FISH for Life” gave women four principles that will strengthen their homes and build relationships.
RWA offered a variety of workshops for women to choose from: Women’s Personal Protection; Women’s Health from A to Z; Cooking; and Managing Your Family Finances.
At RWA 185 women were able to fill their risk management “toolbox” with new communication skills, financial planning tips, health screening ideas, and a larger network of peers to improve and sustain the viability of our rural families, communities, and region.
