Project Overview
The goal of Annie’s Project was to provide an educational program designed to empower farm/ranch women to manage information systems used in critical decision making processes and develop a support network to provide essential continuing education and self-help. Participants were women in Nebraska that were actively involved in agriculture and agribusiness, including women landowners. They attended a series of six workshops that were three hours in length. The workshops combined lecture, discussion, individual work, small group work, computer work, and audio/visual support to address the topics of risk, financial statements, understanding personalities, marketing plans, business plans, estate planning, spreadsheets, and technology. As a result of this education, women became confident and capable members of the management team for their operation.
This grant was to allow for four Annie´s Projects to be completed. Approximately sixteen women attended seven sessions for a total of 110 participants. One year from the end of the project date approximately 76 (70%) of the participants will confidently manage risk in their operation, make informed decisions to improve competitiveness and profitability to insure a sustainable operation, have a working business plan, and have established a network of peers.
Number of Participants: 168
