The Crop and Livestock
Insurance Basics for Traditionally Underserved Producers created a three part
workshop. The three parts where Crop Insurance, Livestock Risk Protection
Insurance and Rainfall and Forage Insurance. These three parts could be used in
combination as a stand alone program or separately in conjunction with other ag
production programs.
Once created the stand
alone programs targeted those traditionally underserved producers by attending
and presenting at the Oklahoma Women in Ag Conference, and marketing through
non traditional channels such as the Oklahoma Veteran Affairs office. These
programs were also offered through traditional extension programs.
Instead of creating
YouTube videos, the project committee decided to create on line class modules
covering the above insurance products. These modules were designed so that participants
could go through them at their own speed and as time would allow. Each
insurance module had multiple sections with a general quiz at the end. Participants
had to pass the quiz with a score of 70% in order to go the next section. At
the end of the module was an overall quiz that they had to pass with a 70% to
complete the module.
