Project Overview
The DMAP Client and Risk Management Education Project educated agrability clients and staff about the value of risk management.
Initially Risk Management (RM)colleagues trained DMAP staff. The training was then expanded in include clients, partners and collaorating organizations.
The staff consequently incorporated learned RM principles into the intake process when case managers and farmers were involved with decision making ie. investing in adaptive and modified equipment or diversifying their operations.
Farmers who participated in the Delaware-Maryland Agrability Project were intently looking for ways to keep farming productive and economical. In many cases their disabilities limited what they could do and consequently diversification was key to maintaining a viable operation and supporting their families. This project provided a great opportunity in the states of Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey to elevate the level of service that we provide to farmers with disabilities by considering risk management factors.
