We developed materials, held in-person workshops, and conducted a webinar to educate landowners and producers on how to minimize risk by obtaining written leases. Additionally, through the presentations and Ranchers' Agricultural Leasing Handbook, we provided information to help parties negotiate, evaluate, and draft leases.
The programs and materials focused on pasture, hunting, and livestock leases. The handbook outlines the importance of lease agreements, why leases should be written, how to calculate lease rates, landowner liability, drafting liability releases, and then provided checklists and sample lease language for each of the types of leases covered.
We presented this material at 5 in-person workshops in AR, TX, and OK to 247 attendees.
Additionally, we held a webinar that garnered 11 participants.
Lastly, we published the handbook on various websites including the Texas Agriculture Law Blog, National Agricultural Law Center, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Featured Solutions, and Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension.
