Project Overview

Fourteen training sessions were planned, 7 one day workshops and 7 two day workshops, to evaluate instructional delivery on grower adoption of risk management software program, AgProfitTM. Six were conducted for 58 participants, mainly specialty crop producers but also including lenders and consultants. These training sessions specifically targeted fruit, berry, grape, ornamental nursery, Christmas tree, vegetable, and Hazelnut producers in Oregon.

As a result of these training sessions, 32 producers indicated an increased understanding of their long-run costs and revenues and the financial and price risk implications of an uninformed decision regarding establishing perennial crops, implementing technologies in to current and future production systems, or changing to a new market. Five participants were able to competently setup and use the program and one participant indicated a beneficial application of the software program in their operation.
