Project Overview

The Rutgers On-Farm Food Safety Team educated 1063 farmers on the Food Safety Modernization Acts Produce Rule through workshops and short presentations.  Education focused on thresholds for compliance and compliance measures.

Six workshops were held with 167 participants.  Shorter presentations were made at 30 regional meetings with 896 participants.  64 County Agricultural Agents were educated at a National Association Meeting.  12 posts were made on the Rutgers Plant and Pest Advisory blog with 1946 views.  FDA and Rutgers FSMA specific materials were made available.  37 farm visits were made at the growers request after attendance was made at one of the workshops. The trade show booth was utilized at three statewide events, with a combined attendance of 1225.

Program participants are able to better understand if their farm operation will need to come into compliance with the FSMA Produce Safety Rule, and if so what that compliance will look like.
